So What! Wednesday

I'm linking up with Life After I Dew for a little So What action.

- So what if I spent the majority of our first anniversary doing laundry, cleaning, watering, and cleaning up dog poop in the yard.  The hubs was sick and I let him get some rest!

- So what if I finally started tracking my food on MFP again, but am still eating like 2800 calories a day.

- So what if I don't plan on getting our Christmas pictures taken until the lights are up down town.  I will still have my Christmas cards out by the first weekend of December!

- So what if I look like a busted can of biscuits in my cute leggings.  I love dressing for fall just like the skinny minnie's do!

- So what if the only reason we're scared to start trying for a family is because we're worrying about paying for daycare.

- So what if I bought a crap ton of candy for our trick-or-treaters and we've eaten about half of it.

- So what if I'm already starting to dread the holidays a little bit.  It's really hard trying to juggle time spent with a sister in Texas, one that just moved away in the mountains, and the in-laws.  I wish we could just have our holidays at home!  So much more relaxing...

- So what if we're going to the mountains for the weekend and I don't give a damn if we spend the majority of our savings.  It seemed like we lived for the future more than the present this year.

- So what if I'm already dreading having my wisdom teeth removed and I haven't even made the appointment yet.

- So what if I've driven the same little rollerskate car for 6 years.  It's never given me any trouble and I don't want any more debt!

I hope everyone has a great week.  It's all a downhill slide to the weekend from here.  Sweet baby Jesus, it can't come soon enough!!!

Our First Anniversary

It's so hard to believe it's already been a year since our wedding day.  If our first year is any indication of what the future holds for us, it's going to be an awesome ride!  Every morning I wake up next to my sweet man I am reminded how truly blessed I am; there are people that go their whole lives searching for the love we've found.  I am one lucky girl!

Saturday -
I got all caught up on the "Kendra On Top" episodes I've had dvr'd, since Graham had to work til noon.  After he got off, we got ready and took off to Roswell to run some errands and have dinner.

We started our romantic evening at Jiffy Lube, so I could get my oil changed.  Turns out I also needed a new belt (of some sort) and a transmission fluid change.  Apparently you're supposed to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles annnnnnnd I'd never had it done.  It only has 110,000 miles now.  Whatev...

We also stopped by PetCo to pick up a scratching post for Mercy, cause the crazy girl is doing some big time damage to one of my rustic tables.  I'm trying really hard not to resort to having her declawed, because I've seen lots of horror stories when I google it, but something has got to change!  Needless to say she won't have anything to do with her new scratching post... she doesn't even like catnip.  Womp, womp, womp.

We enjoyed an awesome dinner at Red Lobster and ate way too much... story of my life!  Margaritas, sangria, cheddar bay biscuits, caesar salad, shrimp scampi, peppercorn sirloin, and chocolate cake.  Sweet baby Jesus it was all really good!

Annie was so glad to see us when we got home.
Sunday -
Our actual anniversary can best be described by some of the words of our vows... in sickness and in health.  Poor Graham had been fighting a head/chest cold for the most of the week, but started feeling pretty good Friday evening.  Sunday morning he woke up around 1:30am with a severe headache.  He took a few tylenol and finally went back to sleep a few hours later.  When he woke up again around 8am the pain had moved right behind his right eye and was worse than before, bringing tears to his eyes.  I laid in bed watching tv while he dozed in and out for the majority of the morning.

I finally made him get out of bed so we could go eat something around 11:30, but when we got in the car the light made it even worse.  We picked up some Burger King and quickly headed back home.  He ate about half of his burger before laying down on the couch next to the humidifier that I filled with Vicks.  He slept just about the whole afternoon, waking up periodically so I could give him more medicine and nose spray.

The pain started to become dull around 5 that evening, so he got up and was moving around a little bit.  I spent my afternoon doing laundry, watering my flowers/yard, and picking up dog poop in the back yard.  =)  We decided to get out of the house for a little bit, so we went out to my sister Connie's.  We had actually had our ceremony there and wanted to spend a little time reminiscing about our big day.  It was a bittersweet moment because my sister had just sold their property and were in the process of moving all of their stuff to their ranch in the mountains.

When we started talking about buying a house, we had every intention of buying Connie's, but as some time went by we realized that we wanted a little more room in our house, that her's just didn't have.  I'd be lying if I said I didn't regret our decision just a little bit, but God holds our future and I have faith that there is a reason he steered us in a different direction.  It's hard for me to see them go; they lived there for 30 years and I spent so much of my life there.  It's going to be hard not going over there for holidays and random get-togethers as well.

Just a year ago we became husband and wife in that very gazebo.

Before we even got married, we talked about anniversary gifts and what we thought about them.  I've never really understood the point of buying individual gifts for each other for a milestone that celebrates being a couple; I would much rather make a joint decision on buying something that we can share for years to come... something that represents us.  Graham was happy to oblige, mostly partly because it meant he was off the hook having to buy the perfect gift that I would remember forever and ever amen.

Our first statue we bought was actually for our wedding day, called "Two Trails Become One Road".  We loved that it symbolized us coming together in marriage to conquer the long road of life hand in hand.  To us, it meant that we'd never have to face anything alone ever again.  We chose this beautiful "Happy Trails" statue to represent our first year and our hopes in our future life together.

My sweet man did get me these beautiful flowers though.  He knows me too well!

Although our actual anniversary wasn't what I had hoped it would be, I wouldn't change a thing.  Well, other than Graham being so sick... but my point is that we celebrate us and our marriage on a daily basis.  Anniversaries are (exciting) milestones, but I think it's just as, if not more important to make each day special for my honey.  Life is about all of the little, every day moments that I get to enjoy with my man, the days that are going by far too fast that I wouldn't give up for anything in this world!  Thank you Lord for blessing me with this sweet man.  One year down, forever to go!!!

Wade Bowen & Our Weekend

Somewhere along the way I've decided it's ok to blog on a weekly basis... and that pretty much will cover what we did over the weekend.  We just haven't been up to much lately!  I'm sure my posts will pick up more in the upcoming weeks with our anniversary and the holidays coming up, but for now ya get what ya get and ya don't throw a fit!  I can't wait to tell our kids that one day.  =)

Friday -
After work I went to Walmart to pick up a few things and ended up getting the Halloween candy for our trick-or-treaters.  I really don't know what I was thinking, to be honest.  We ripped open into every bit of those bags and have been in a sugar coma ever sense - definitely not one of my best ideas.  Live and learn...

When I finally got home, I got started getting the back lawn mowed and was just about finished when Graham got home from work.  While he was weed eating I started mowing a few rows in the front yard, but he ended up finishing it for me so I could get dinner started.

Saturday -
Hubby had the weekend off so we headed over to Artesia's annual "Art In The Park" festivities.  There were tons of vendors for food, face painting, hand-made items and crafts, as well as the high school band's cake walk.  I heard many people say that they were disappointed in the turn out, but for myself it seemed like it was better than the ones I remember in recent years.  We had a great time and picked up a couple cute items for the house, including a cute wooden sunflower welcome sign.  I also found a picket fence toilet paper holder... so, so cute!

We spent the majority of the afternoon lounging around the house / backyard.
Caution: selfies galore!  #sorrynotsorry

Later that afternoon, we picked up Reg & Staci and headed to Roswell for a night out.  We enjoyed some Red Lobster before making our way over to Way Out West to see one of our favorite TX Country artists, Wade Bowen.  I've said it before, but Graham and I are HUGE TX country fans; it was one of the first things we found we had in common, when we first started dating.  Reg & Staci are also huge fans and went to many concerts when they were going to school at Texas Tech.  The last time they saw Wade was nearly 9 years ago!

They are by far a couple of my most favorite people to be around.  We laughed, danced our butts off, and drank way too much... we had a really good time y'all!  I can't wait to see who the next live band WOW will be bringing to town.

Me and my beautiful SIL, Staci.

I really lucked out inheriting these two as my BIL & SIL!

Sunday -
After our long night out we were pretty much exhausted for the majority of the day.  We didn't even roll out of bed until around 11:30 and that was only to go pick up some food!  We just can't hang anymore... and I'm ok with that!  It's probably a good thing that those nights are becoming few and far between.  We're like an old married couple tied down with kids - except we don't have kids and we're still in our 20's.  Womp, womp, womp!!!

I hope everyone has an awesome week and if you would, take a minute to say a prayer for my sweet blog-sister, Rachel.  She could really use some extra prayers and {hugs} this week!!!

Adobe Rose & A Whole Lotta Laziness

After weeks of having weekends full of stuff to do, I was so ready to just have a weekend where nothing was planned and we just went with the flow.  I am a very planned person.  I normally don't think there's anything wrong with making lists of everything I need to get done and having most of my days planned out, but sometimes a break is just needed.  It stresses Graham out a lot little, so we kind of took our time doing stuff around the house this weekend, which I consider having a weekend "off".  He probably didn't see it that way though.  =)

Friday -
We (finally) went to one of the newer restaurants Artesia has, called Adobe Rose.  I say "finally" because if I remember right, it's been open since like February and we had yet to get over there to check it out.  What can I say... we are definitely creatures of habit.  We only eat out 1-2 times a week (if that) and when we do it's because we've been absolutely craving something at another place.

Graham enjoyed his steak and baked potato, while I devoured some pot roast and mashed potatoes.  We shared their chips and queso, along with some espresso creme brulee, which was amazing.  I tried a margarita and their house sangria, both were so, so good!

The food was actually really good, really expensive, but really good.  Call me crazy, but when I spend nearly $100 on food, I expect it to last us for a few weeks.  I'm cheap folks. Sorry, not sorry!  It was nice to get out and enjoy something different with my hubby though.

Saturday -
It was Graham's weekend to work, so I laid in bed for a little bit and caught up on "Kendra On Top".  I'm such a sucker for reality tv!  I also went to the store to get our grocery shopping done before Graham got home at noon, since he loathes having to go with me on most days.

Other than that, I don't even really remember what we did.  I know Graham finished getting the blinds hung in the office and in our bedroom, while I worked on getting the last few boxes unpacked in our second bedroom.

Somehow I neglected to get any pictures though...

Sunday -
We went to the early service at church and then came home to do some more relaxing, which seemed to be the theme of our weekend.   We finally got tired of sitting around, so we loaded up the 4-wheeler and rode around the Guy farm for a bit.

Somebody was ready to go home! {Pouting}
We're looking forward to the upcoming annual craft show in Artesia and a TX country concert in Roswell this next weekend.  Hope y'all have a good week!
