The Polar Express - Lubbock, TX

We traveled to Texas the first week of December to take Ayanna and Joleigh on the magical Polar Express.  We sipped hot chocolate and munched on cookies while reading the Polar Express story.  The train took us to the North Pole where we picked up Santa and his little elves.  Joleigh was excellent up until she started crying and projectile vomited all over me.  I guess it made her feel better though - she immediately fell asleep in my arms.  Ahhh, the joys of motherhood!    The ride was super cute and I look forward to taking Joleigh again while she 'still believes'!

Thanksgiving

We take turns spending holidays with our families, since Kelly and her family live a few hours away.  This was our year to spend Thanksgiving with Graham's family.  Since they do their meal at dinner, we decided to spend lunch with my sister, Peggy and her family.  We're very blessed to have lots of family that live close to us and I'll be the first to say that we don't take advantage of it near as often as we should.  We really enjoyed spending time with everyone for Thanksgiving!

Concho

Graham is starting his 3rd week at his new job as a Lease Operator for Concho Resources, and he's absolutely loving it.  Being a farm kid, he was a little apprehensive to take such a big leap to move to the oil & gas industry - especially with the oil prices the way they are right now.  He's so excited to be learning a new field, and I am so very proud of him for taking this leap of faith.

Along with the change of pace, he also ended up having to shave his beard.  It was like he was letting go of a part of his identity - and he was not happy!  He's grown accustomed to his new look now and even seems to like it.  I just happen to think he looks handsome all the time!

Love this handsome man!

Joleigh's Newborn Picture Session

Our sweet little girl is almost 7 months old now and I'm finally getting around to posting her newborn photo session we had done when she was just two weeks old.  I remember that day like it was yesterday.  It makes me sad how fast time is flying and that I haven't been able to keep up with this blog as I'd hoped.  It's ok though, I know she'll love being able to look back at the moments I do capture for her one day!

Letter to Joleigh - 6 Months

I also posted your 5 month update today, so that should show that you are keeping me extremely busy.  I don't mind one bit though, there's no other reason I'd rather have for my brain being scrambled all the time!  :)

You turned 6 months on January 1st and let me just be the first to say that you are at such a fun age!  You set up for the first time on 12/12 in the middle of your first slumber party with Jackson, Mollie, Gracen, Braden, and Brooklyn!  You only set up for a little bit at first, but now you're a champ.  You sit up all the time and it's literally your favorite thing to do.

You are growing into such a big girl and you even moved into 9 month clothes on 12/26.  At your 6 month check up you measured 26.75 in (84%) and weighed 16.69lbs (66%).  All that really means is that you are hella cute baby girl!!

Your bedtime is between 7-730 and you normally sleep 10-12 hours a night.  We are so very thankful that you're a good sleeper.  Your dad and I love our sleep, so that helps out tons!  Haha!

We LOVED celebrating your first Christmas and you were super excited to play with all your new toys.  Mama is always busy taking your picture, even though it's beginning to annoy you most days.
