B I G News Y'all! (Part 2)

Along with Graham's new job came the reality that we would have to move... and soon!  The biggest perk of his previous position was the fact that we were supplied with company housing.  That part was a lifesaver when we were planning our wedding.  We didn't go into our marriage with any debt besides our vehicle payments.

We were also able to start saving for our first home purchase.  It didn't take very long at all for us to set aside enough money for our down payment and closing costs on our first home that we are planning to purchase this year.  It's been a blessing for sure!

Before he put his notice in, I had him verify with his HR dept exactly how long we would have to find another place to live, which turned out to be 30 days.  Yes, we made a big decision not knowing whether we would be homeless in a month.  Ok so maybe that's a little dramatic, but hey it could have happened!

We went to his parents that night to share our good news.  His mom was so happy for him (like tears in her eyes happy) and his dad seemed pretty pleased with his decision too.  Without diving too far into personal matters, there has been some definite tension within the family that we are hoping will cease to exist now that he works for someone else.  We're hoping it'll bring us all closer in the end.  It's hard working for family y'all!

Since they have a few rental properties on their farm, we asked if we could rent one on a month-to-month basis while we searched for a home to buy.  They were completely fine with it (thank God) and we feel more comfortable knowing that we'll have a place to go in between our current home and our purchased home.

Our lives are about to get a little more chaotic with a couple moves coming up, but I really feel like a weight has been lifted off our shoulders.  We look forward to finding that perfect first home where we can get all settled and start the rest of our lives.  It finally feels like it's right around the corner for us!
