I have been absolutely dying to announce some of the big changes that are happening in our lives, but had to wait for the perfect moment.
Graham decided to leave his position as a pecan farmer and put in his notice yesterday. Like we'd hoped, he was asked to leave, so he called his new boss to let him know he could start when they were ready for him. Surprisingly, he told Graham they could use him that day. It was all kind of a whirlwind of events, but he started his new position as a farm equipment salesman immediately.
What he lacks in his experience in sales, he gains with his extensive knowledge in the products he'll be offering. He has been around farm equipment his entire life. It's what he knows, enjoys to be around, and loves. He knows just about every farmer in the area, which will be an asset to his new company as well.
He'll be able to enjoy the "farm life" without having to put in the long, seemingly endless hours. It's going to be so nice to just know what his schedule will be. No more finding out if he's working that weekend come 5 o'clock on Friday; he knows which weekends he'll be working in advance. He'll actually get to have a life outside of work, which will be even more important once we start our family. He'll be perfect for this position, and it couldn't have come at a better time.
We couldn't make the announcement until all was said and done since he worked for his brother-in-law and we didn't want him finding out that Graham would be leaving in a round about way. He wanted to be the one that told him the news. We wanted to tell his family about it for a long time, but just couldn't take the chance. Hopefully there aren't any hurt feelings over it, but we were trying to do things the best way we knew how.
He is so excited for his new endeavor, which makes me happy, happy, happy!
