On October 27, 2012 we became Mr. & Mrs. Guy. I LOVE IT.
Our wedding was PERFECT. It was a combination of country, fall colors, pumpkins, horseshoes, boots, turquoise, cotton, hay bales, DIY, and BBQ. Again, it was PERFECT.
We were blessed to be joined by our closest family and friends in a moment that we will cherish forever. We are so excited to be a part of an extended family now as well!
The ceremony was held at my sister, Connie’s house out in the country. It was a beautiful location with a pond, a gazebo, and the sunset in the background.
There were lots of DIY touches including painted wood signs that read “Heck Yes I Do”, “Gettin’ Hitched”, and “10-27-2012” that were hanging in trees. There was also an “In Loving Memory” wood sign that was placed on a cable reel with pictures of our grandparents that had passed away.
There were beautiful pumpkins that were painted with the wedding colors that included my new last name, our monogram, and other designs. I was lucky enough to get help from my new nephew; Jackson, new sister-in-law; Staci, as well as other family a week before the wedding with those.
All of the bouquets were made with the cotton bolls from the Guy farm. Mine had touches of fall flowers to bring in extra pops of color. All the ladies wore dresses made of cotton as well which made it feel like a country wedding.
The day actually ended up being so calm compared to what I feared. The morning we set up it was so cold. I remember sniffling just about the whole time. The sun came out that afternoon and by 4pm it was an absolutely beautiful fall day.
I felt so relaxed while I was getting ready and even right before the ceremony was about to begin. I was surrounded by the people I love the most and it made all the difference in the world.
My brother, Danny walked me down the aisle and I just remember trying to hold back the tears. Once I got to the gazebo and was “handed off” to Graham, I just felt an overwhelming feeling of calmness. I knew it was right and was everything I’d ever prayed for. It was happening and it was real.
The reception was held at the Cottonwood Winery. There were also DIY touches there including wine bottles with labels of different ‘in love’ farm animals with song titles that were important to us. There were some that had our engagement pictures on them as well. They had Christmas lights in them and they were on each table.
There was BBQ, “Cowgirl Punch”, dancin’, and conversations with people we hadn’t been able to see in a really long time. There was more beer than we could ever drink coupled with koozies that read “To Have And To Hold And To Keep Your Beer Cold”.
We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our new marriage than to have it in a big barn!
Thanks again to all of the important people that made our big day happen. We couldn’t have done it without you!!
